Long Description
Nicki had a happy and successful career in the Nursing Profession for 22 years, including 16 years as a Clinical Nurse Specialist in Diabetes and Senior Nurse Manager. Some of her responsibilities involved collaborative and holistic work with people with diabetes, their families, and / or carers to educate, support, assist and empower them to achieve or maintain good health. Included in this was providing social and psychological support to assist them to handle illness related problems, and provide clinical advice on self care and medication adjustment.
On discovering acupuncture, Nicki quickly developed a passion for this amazing treatment. She is still frequently delighted by the powerful positive changes acupuncture can bring to peoples’ lives. Very soon after completing her 3 year degree course at the renowned Leamington College of Traditional Acupuncture, she realised that acupuncture was the right career path for her. Acupuncture has given her subtle and elegant tools to re-balance patients' energies and help them reach their full potential. She practices a classical style of acupuncture called Five Elements which focuses on identifying and treating underlying imbalances to achieve overall harmony, resulting in a general feeling of well-being, increased energy levels and a greater ability to deal with whatever trials life may present.
Nicki is enthusiastic about treating patients of all ages for a wide variety of complaints and conditions. However, having had 16 years experience of working with pregnant women with diabetes and recognising the importance of pain free mobility and exercise she has developed particular interests in :
Fertility - male and female
Women’s Health - Menstrual problems to the Menopause
Sports injuries and musculo-skeletal pain.
As an experienced and qualified member of the British Acupuncture Council Nicki is required to observe a Code of Safe Practice and maintain her Continuing Professional Development. Nicki, therefore, regularly attends study courses, seminars and conferences to further her education and maintain the highest standard of professional skills.
Nicki is very patient focused and firmly believes in taking a multi-disciplinary, integrated approach to the treatment of patients. With this in mind she established the Warwick Therapy Centre, which provides a range of complimentary therapies. Nicki welcomes the opportunity to work alongside other health professionals and with the benefit of experience, she firmly believes that the integration of Orthodox or Conventional medicine and Complementary Therapies is the way forward for the most successful Health Care system for all.
